hello winter...

Well, so far the first day of winter has been rather delightful. The air is crisp & the sun shines with a lovely warmth to it. Unfortunately this won't be the case in future weeks. The wind will howl across our paddocks & a misty fog will greet us when we wake.
I'm glad the first of the winter hats have been finished. Huckle has a little elfin hat & I have a beanie to match. I used some left over bendigo yarn from the ripple blanket & I think the elf hat pattern was from lion brand yarn. Very little sleep does shocking things to the memory.
Huckle's hat is a tad small, so I've got the 6-12 month size on the hook at the moment. This size was meant to fit up to 6 months!
I'm still to whip up a new hat for Samuel. I have something special in mind which requires a chunky yarn. Hopefully the local wool shop will deliver. Chances are slim, but I'll give it a shot. Does anyone know of a nice wool in a about a 14 ply?
The little man decided to fall asleep on me as I started this post, I never realised just how heavy 6 kilos is until now!

You two look so cute! I know what you mean about the weight too. Cohen was 9 pound 4 when he was born and I think as he grew I grew muscles!

Have you seen the jellywares shop? She has really chunky wool - http://www.jellywares.com/ - but maybe too chunky for what you are after. But maybe you could ask? :)

Love the mama and baby shot, you both look very smart in your hats. Yep, you will need them, I think it's going to be a cold winter. Hope you are getting some rest when you can, take care xo

Oh you both look great in your new hats. My son used to need bigger size hats too but he still looked gorgeous. 6 kilos does feel heavy when you've just had a baby but as your body strengthens up you will adjust. My daughter is 32 kgs and if she falls alseep on the couch my partner carries her to bed, I tried and nearly put my back out so I wont do that ever again. I dont know of any 14 ply yarn but could you use 2 together.

Oh I so love the hats. Trust me those mum arms are in training for much bigger weights than that, my 3 year old would never walk another step if you gave her a chance
