2013... the year of adventure...

I'm not really one for resolutions.
As the new year ticked over into 2013, I was itching for a goal. I desperately wanted to be challenged (not that life with a two year old and baby isn't challenging at all!). I felt a bit stale, like I haven't pushed myself out of my comfort zone in a while.

So, we did what any wise *cough, hack, splutter* people would do... and bought ourselves a bus...
We are the proud new owners of a 1969 Comair bus. We're in a bit of a buzz.

So here's the plan...
We're selling most of our beloved vintage car collection and heaps more stuff that we just don't need.
Our little bus will be given a fresh coat of paint and a delightful fit out and then we'll be putting our belongings into storage and heading off around Australia.
We hope to be on the road by June... JUNE people!!!
We have four months to do all of the above. That's not too crazy is it?

I can't wait to share our adventures along the way. From doing the old girl up to galavanting around the country side.
If anyone has any pretty spots that you think we should visit, I'd love to get your tips.
I think I need to start a new pinterest board...

Do you have a goal or challenge for the year ahead?
Or do you prefer the take it as it comes approach?
Either way, I hope your year is ace.

Toodle pips.

* this is my excuse for not posting so much lately... so much to do

escape...

A few weeks back, when we were having one of those days and dinner hadn't been cooked... or even contemplated... and it was 4:30.
We bundled ourselves into the car and drove the 40 kilometres to the sea.
We played in the park while we waited for our fish and chips and afterwards we ventured down to the shore.
It was freezing, the fish and chips were horrible and ridiculously overpriced, but I'm so glad to have escaped.

I'm also glad to have taken the camera too.

into nature...

Two is wonderful.
There is so many new things to learn, songs to sing, stories to recite.
The world is full of wonder.
But two is also hard.
There is energy to burn, emotions to figure out and boundaries to test.
When days are hard {and the weather is reasonable} we head outside.
We jump in the car and find a local reserve to explore.
And then we exhale.
The focus shifts from butting heads, to the beauty of nature.
We walk through the bush peacefully, stopping every now and then to study something of interest and to discuss what it might be, how it got to be here and why.
Why is the feather blue? Why did the tree fall? Who cut it up? Where are the ants going?
So, so much to learn.
These little adventures make the day to day a little less overwhelming.
Thank you mother nature.

exploring :: south gippsland railway...

Father's Day snuck up on me and I hadn't made any plans for this wonderful Dada.
I asked Huckle what we should do for "Happy Dada Day" and he muttered something about a train and fried rice. Hmmm. I said I'd see what I could do.
It was rather serendipitous then, that at a toilet stop on our way home the day before I noticed a sign for the South Gippsland Tourist Railway. Bingo!
Some sneaky research that night and I had me a plan.
We had such fun watching the countryside roll by. We saw wallabies, crazy train chasing dogs, waterfalls and endless rolling green.
I love adventuring with my boys.
If you're ever in our neigbourhood, I strongly recommend it. Jump on at Korumburra and hop off at Loch for a few hours fossicking through the antique stores, then catch the little blue wonder back again in the afternoon.

Have you caught a cute train lately?
What marvelous adventures do you have planned for the weekend?

Happy weekend folks.

daffodils...

How wonderful it is to go adventuring.
It is especially wonderful when you happen upon hectares of daffodils!
We found these pretties on our way to Mt Worth.
Can you imagine my squeals of delight?
What's happening in your world today?
We're pottering about at home. Trying oh so hard to tick at least one thing off the never ending list.
Perhaps building a block city or two and I'm contemplating cooking fish pie for dinner. We'll see if that goes to plan or not... we might end up having omelette.
One can never plan too far ahead with small children. They often have other plans. Ha ha.

exploring :: mt worth state park...

A spur of the moment adventure. The best kind.
Last week we visited Mount Worth State Park, about half an hour away from home.
The forest was ours, there was not another soul about.
Fresh air, adventure and time together as a family.
Perfect, really.

a trip to the zoo...

We took our happy birthday boy to the zoo on saturday.
We ate our picnic lunch upon the lawn and treated ourselves to icecream.
There were gorillas and elephants and lions and butterflies.... and so much more to see.
Huckle was in awe of most animals and often stood staring, a bit speechless at times.
What a wonderful world it is when you're two. There is so much to discover.

an autumn afternoon...

A few days ago, we took a walk.
Perhaps another very good reason for a pregnant lady to rest. We didn't make it all the way up the hill, for that would have been the end of me. Our little stroll took us to the farm on the corner and there were all sorts of wonders for the wondering.
Here I am posing. Must get more belly shots! I'm loving this stripey top at the moment, I wear it every second day (okay, maybe sometimes two days in a row). I think I've stretched it past capacity, it's wearing a little thin.
 Playing with my shadow.
Admiring that big bright sun and wishing it would stay for winter.
 Cute Charolais babies to see.
 Wedgetail eagles to spot.
 Two gorgeous boys for company.
One, who is fascinated with shadows and who they belong to.
Seriously cute. Gosh, I love this boy.
I hope you've been having adventures of the most adventurous kind lately.
Wandering and wondering is so good for the soul.
It helps me push through the not so nice to see that there is lots of good in my everyday.
Does it help you too?

It's Friday, almost the weekend! Make it wonderful, won't you. x
