on my desk... on a wednesday... oops it's thursday

Well, ok it's not my desk either... it's my dining table. I bought this batch of vintage knitting needles off ebay a while ago and I've just pulled them out to check the sizes so I can knit a scarf for his truly.
Also, I tagged along to a vintage motorcycle swap on sunday... token girl again. I was there to take photos and document bikes and just generally enjoy my sunday morning. I'm not bitter, I did have a good time. I was quite lucky for three reasons: 1. I found a supercool motorcycle jacket for fifty bucks (bargain!), 2. I found a lovely vintage tin to store my pins in, and 3. I found this beauty! A cute little suitcase, look at its gorgeous paper lining... it cost me $2.50!!!
Then I became quite tired of looking at carbuettors... so we went to the pub for lunch.

The bird bath is posting a week of happy, I thought I'd post a few happy things aswell to keep her company. Apple crumble makes me happy. I made it first thing this morning, which seems like an odd hour of the day. But I ate some for breakfast out on the verandah in the sun and it sure did lift my spirits. I hope you are having a happy day too.

Hmmm, can anybody see a common theme? Lots of animals in there. They don't all live in here, most of them have corresponding jackets that they hang out on.

I have a lovely story I would like to share with you about the black/red circle brooch at the front. One night I was working the bar at MoVida and was serving a mad frenchman and his wife. I am quite mad myself, so the frenchman and I got along like a house on fire. They were at the bar for a good few hours, they enjoyed themselves. Anyway the next night, Samuel and I were out to dinner, walking up bourke street, when alas I saw the crazy frenchman. Being my brash obnoxious self, I called out "hey, you're the crazy frenchman!" He recognised me said hello and then said "I like your style, I want you to have something to remember me by." Reaching into his jacket, I was quietly shitting myself thinking he was going to pull out a gun, when he pulled the above brooch off his jumper and gave it to me. He was a jeweller and had made it himself!
I must say, for the rest of the night and still to this day I felt extra special that a stranger saw a little something in me.

Hello world. Exciting things happening in my neck of the woods, I'm going back to bookbinding! I hope to start selling at the Rose St Market by the end of next month and online by the end of the year. I'll make sure I post as soon as I've got the first run finished.
I plan on using vintage wallpapers, fabrics and childrens books for inspiration, focusing on creating art journals, notebooks and photo albums.
I must give thanks to a few lovely ladies for their constant inspiration.

1. I absolutely love sparrows, they represent beauty in the sometimes mundane everyday life.

2. When I was 15 I sang at the Sydney Opera House.

3. I have been collecting Inside Out magazine since 2001, although I am missing a few issues. I also cannot bring myself to cutting them up, so they're in perfect nic.

4. I love the colour yellow, I think I got it from my mum. Whenever I see something in yellow it always makes me happy.

5. My favourite flower is the magnolia graniflora, I love the simple elegance of this flower and its sugary lemon scent. I think I shall have it as my wedding flower.

6. I was the flowergirl at my mum & dads wedding when I was four and I screamed throughout the whole ceremony because my new cousin Ji told me that my new dad was a monster and he's going to take my mum away. (that clearly did not happen, he turned out to be alright afterall) The priest at one stage asked angrily "who does that child belong to?", he must have been a little apologetic when somebody told him I belonged to the bride. hee hee and it's all on tape.
